Green Star Documentation

Green Star Documentation - Vinyl Council Australia

Under the new PVC Credit, PVC product manufacturers must achieve independent verification that their product meets the requirements of the 'Best Practice Guidelines for PVC in the Built Environment' (see Additional Guidance section of the PVC credit). A Verification Guidance Document to guide auditors undertaking product verifications has been released by the Green Building Council of Australia (October 2011).

From 1 March 2012, only an independent auditor's certificate of assessment will be acceptable evidence of a product's compliance with the Best Practice Guidelines under the PVC Credit. This change will only influence projects registered for Green Star certification after the 1 March 2012.

Visit our on-line registry of Best Environmental Practice PVC to identify products which have achieved independent verification of compliance. The Best Environmental Practice PVC trade mark is licensed only to those PVC products that demonstrate third party verification of compliance under the PVC Credit guidelines.

Until this audit guide was released, the Green Building Council determined that the 'Evidence of Independent Verification' requirement could be replaced with an Interim Manufacturers' Declaration. Projects registered for Green Star certification before 1 March 2012 may continue to submit these interim manufacturer's declarations as evidence of product compliance regardless of when the submission is made.
