Wiring cable and insulation
Wiring cable and insulation - Vinyl Council Australia
| PVC has been used as sheathing for cables for many years and accounts for around 50% of the Australian power cable market. Suitable for both commercial and domestic buildings, PVC cables are used in electrical and telecommunication applications. Benefits of using PVC for sheathing and insulation include: • low conductivity • durability • cost effectiveness, and • flame retardancy. PVC cable insulation can be recycled at the end of its useful life. An estimated 2000 tonnes of post-consumer PVC electric cable insulation waste is recovered in Australia each year. The recyclate is made into new products, both here and overseas, including the inner core in hoses, industrial flooring and mud flaps. |
